Sarah Winward Workshop

Attending Sarah Winward's bouquet workshop was a pivotal moment for Blushing Rose Floral. Before this workshop I felt stuck. I knew what I wanted to create and desperately desired my bouquets to be loose and airy, but was having the hardest time telling my hands what to do to get this effortless look. Ladies, you know what I'm talking about, right? It's like that moment when you realized the effortless messy bun actually takes work. That's where I was at, and I needed to put in the work!

Having Sarah as a mentor that day turned things around for me completely! Her techniques opened my world to a new method of arranging bouquets, and for the first time I felt that my petals weren't smooshed together like a junior high slow dance, but instead had room to move, to breathe, to flutter in the wind, just as they would in nature. You guys, I was so happy.

Looking back at these photos I've realized that nearly two years have passed, yet this is still one of my favorite bouquets. Yes, I notice some flaws and things I would do differently now, but I'm glad that I do. As designers we must keep growing, keep learning, keep practicing, keep trying, keep failing, keep doing, even when it's hard, and especially when you're stuck.
